Shelf Practice

Terms of Service

Last updated: July 11, 2026

These terms govern your use of Shelf Practice (the "app"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Who can use Shelf Practice

Shelf Practice is intended for medical students and other adult learners preparing for USMLE Shelf exams. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

Accounts

You sign in with Google. You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that happens under it. Let us know right away if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Subscriptions and payment

Some question banks are free; others require a paid plan. If you upgrade, payment is processed by a third-party payment processor — we don't store your full card details. Plans, pricing, and what's included may change; we'll make reasonable efforts to give notice of material changes that affect you. If we introduce new payment plans, we will never downgrade the access you already have under your existing plan.

Refunds

You may request a full refund within 7 days of payment, no questions asked. No refunds will be granted after this 7-day window, including if the app or a question bank becomes unavailable or is discontinued. To request a refund, email the address below with your username and the payment method used for the original transaction.

Acceptable use

Don't copy, redistribute, resell, scrape, or publicly share question or answer content from the app. Don't attempt to circumvent paid-plan access controls, interfere with the app's operation, or use the app for any unlawful purpose.

Content and intellectual property

The Shelf Practice app, design, and software are our property. Question and answer content is sourced from third-party self-assessment materials and is provided for your personal study use only. Shelf Practice is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) or the USMLE program. "USMLE" and "NBME" are trademarks of their respective owners.

No exam or outcome guarantee

Shelf Practice is a study aid. We don't guarantee that using the app will improve your exam score or that any question, answer, or explanation is complete or error-free. Always rely on your own judgment and official exam-preparation resources.

Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shelf Practice and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, exam performance, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app.

Termination

You can stop using the app and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to accounts that violate these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
